Amigos,

Earlier this year, LinkedIn published its annual Top Skills Report where they ranked the top 10 most in-demand hard skills of 2020. This year, Blockchain was the number one skill followed by Cloud Computing, Analytical Reasoning, and AI. For those who have been following the blog, you know that although I am not a Tech specialist myself, I have a keen interest in the Blockchain Technology and am following the developments.

Conversely in my network, I have seen ex-colleagues and acquaintances switching jobs to software developer roles, Full Stack Developer, UX Designer, etc. My friend Wendy from Wanderlust Wendy who studied public administration and industrial development also took a coding bootcamp while living in Shanghai in order to make a career pivot. The industry is attracting many talents from various backgrounds.

If that is you too and/or if you are eager to enter this booming industry and are not sure where to start, well you are in the right place, my friend! Artur Meyster our guest writer today compiled a great practical guide here for you!

Top Skills Needed to Land a Career in Tech

When you think about your dream job, many things may come to mind: a good salary, great culture, or the ability to work from anywhere you want are just some of them. The tech industry offers those three things.

Most jobs in the future will depend on technology. Artificial intelligence is taking over and it’s generating more jobs than ever. If you look at your daily life, you’ll notice that every day things get more automated; from cars, cashier tasks, to manufacturing.

This is how the future will be. As most jobs that consist of repeatable tasks will be replaced by machines and automation, the future of work will need more people working in tech. If you’re one of those who are passionate about technology and innovation, you may want to switch to a tech career.

While you had to study a computer science degree in the past, now you can opt for different paths. Companies are now ditching their bachelor’s degree requirements for something more important: talent. You can now learn coding from short-term bootcamps and courses that allow you to study at a pace of your choosing. Here we’ll show you some of the most in-demand tech skills to help you land a career in tech.

Data Science

Data science is the process of obtaining insight from datasets to solve a problem or make wiser decisions. Data science is also used to forecast business outcomes and in the medical field. The magic behind data science relies on maths and statistics, so a data scientist must be able to acquire those skills. Data science is also related to machine learning and artificial intelligence, which are becoming one of the main technological disciplines today.

If you want to learn this tech skill, General Assembly could be a great school to start. General Assembly’s data science program comes in two modalities: immersive and regular, you can either choose to learn part-time mode or full-time. It teaches all the in-depth knowledge you need to become a data analyst; from how to use Python to predict and “mine” databases to build statistical models.

Web Development

A web developer is someone who designs and creates websites by using programming languages and coding techniques. A web developer is capable of testing and designing interfaces for users.

This skill is highly in demand because companies depend a lot on the functionality of their websites. Us, as users, know that the first impression of a company is very related to its website. We’ll come back and buy products if the website interface is intuitive and has pleasing visuals. On the contrary, we’ll probably run away if the website doesn’t look genuine and it’s unfunctional.

The possibilities of you getting a job as a web developer are high if you put all your efforts to be the best programmer. You can learn this skill at Rithm School which is one of the best schools when it comes to web development. Rithm allows you to either pay up-front or choose one of its loan financing payment methods.

Digital Marketing

Digital marketing involves every marketing effort in digital platforms such as websites, blogs, and social media. This discipline plays a huge role in every company. Digital marketers are in charge of creating all kinds of strategies and research to find the best way to create customer engagement.

The only way to be noticed as a company is to be able to work towards efficient digital marketing efforts. Some of the best schools where you can learn digital marketing are and Wyncode Academy. Both schools offer flexible payment methods and in-depth education so you can land a job in digital marketing.

Wrapping up

If you’re planning to get a career in tech, the only path to get there is through education. You don’t necessarily need to have a computer science degree, but it’s important to find the most feasible way for you to learn the necessary skills to succeed. Think that you may become the next person that comes up with the best idea to bring innovative solutions to our society through a tech career.

Blockchain Technology

Blockchain Technology Letters

The Blockchain Technology is not only about Bitcoin or sleazy characters buying illegal stuff on the Dark Web. Blockchain is gaining ground in a variety of industries and I must say I was surprised to see it ranking as the number 1 skill for 2020. This encourages me to move on further with my courses in the Ivan On Tech Academy. The academy offers plenty of courses ranging from general knowledge to programming and even Algorithmic Trading & Technical Analysis courses. It is constantly growing with new updated content and courses and the Academy is also well connected with companies in that sector which increases your chances to land a job in that industry! In short, the Ivan On Tech Academy is the single best place to get educated on Blockchain Technology.

As we are facing strange times, many companies may put a freeze on hiring for the time being, But do not be discouraged, if you are keen to enter that industry, now is a great opportunity to get educated since you can start today by taking any of the bootcamp or courses mentioned above!

I would like to thank Artur once again for identifying the key skills to take your career further.
